Iyengar yoga is named after B.K.S. Iyengar, whose style of yoga is now taught in more than 40 countries around the world. He evolved precise postures (asana) and breathing (pranayama) techniques that are accessible to all, regardless of age, experience, or physical condition. With the help of supports that we call “props,” students can progress in their practice safely and at their own level, in line with their own body.
Tara’s classes in Ballinderreen include students who are beginners to those who have developed their own practice after regularly attending classes for more than two years. Tara began practicing Iyengar yoga in 2000, has studied under Senior Iyengar teachers from London, France, Spain, Canada and Ireland, and is a qualified teacher at the Introductory Level 2 level. Prior to teaching in Ireland, she taught in Beijing, China in both English and Chinese since 2010. Iyengar yoga classes are currently offered on Wednesday evening 6:30-8:00 and Thursday mornings 9:45-11:00 through June, with classes to be scheduled over the summer as well.
